David Coulthard

David Coulthard, a widely recognized sports personality, has made a remarkable mark in the world of Formula 1 Grand Prix racing, television broadcasting, writing, and entrepreneurship. Born in Twynholm, Scotland, he kickstarted his racing journey at just 11 years old, achieving exceptional success in various motor racing categories and even securing a victory in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix.

In 1989, David’s talent earned him the inaugural McLaren Autosport ‘Young Driver of the Year Award,’ leading to an exciting test drive opportunity with the McLaren Formula 1 team. Subsequently, he joined the Williams Formula 1 team in 1993 as a test driver, supporting legendary racers like Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Ayrton Senna. The following year, he made his Formula 1 World Championship debut for Williams, marking his maiden triumph at the 1995 Portuguese Grand Prix.

David really was fantastic. He rocked it and the audience was thrilled. His powerful messages combined with personal anecdotes made everyone feel that the talk could go on for another hour or two. He has a great sense of humour and is ever so charming.

Moving on to McLaren for nine seasons, David delivered stellar performances, securing an impressive 12 Grands Prix victories and consistently finishing in the top 3 in the World Championship for Drivers on five occasions. Notable among his Formula 1 achievements were his prestigious wins at the British and Monaco Grands Prix.

Beyond the racing track, David’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found Whisper, a rapidly growing media production company in Europe, and Velocity Experience, specializing in branded corporate events. In 2019, he took on a crucial role as the non-Executive Chairman of W Series, the world’s first professional all-women single-seater racing series. Additionally, he serves as the President of the British Racing Drivers Club, which owns and operates the iconic Silverstone Circuit in the UK.

In 2022, David co-founded the More Than Equal initiative, aiming to pave the way for the first woman to race in Formula 1 during the modern era. This groundbreaking program seeks to identify the most promising female racing talents and eliminate barriers to entry in the pinnacle of world motorsport.

Coulthard’s global impact is evident through his association with numerous major international brands as their ambassador. Moreover, he remains directly involved with Formula 1, conducting podium interviews as part of the sport’s global television feed.

In 2007 David published his autobiography It Is What It Is and in 2018 his second book The Winning Formula made the Sunday Times Best Seller list in the UK. In 2010 he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
