Peter Hacker is an internationally sought-after Swiss expert in digital change, cyber crime and underwriting. He gives keynotes describing challenges, opportunities and solutions using real life examples that drastically influence companies, societies and politics.

“Cyber crime is a ticking time bomb and hangs like a Damocles Sword over the digitized economy and reinsurance industry. Peter addressed insightfully our annual SIRC Event in Singapore twice in a row. Highly interactive and bespoke industry keynotes.” –Marc Haushofer, SRA Chairman

Before co-founding Distinction.Global in 2015, Peter played a significant role within the Cologne-based Cyber Crime Research Institute, an independent Cyber Crime Observatory. His leadership extended to Global CTM Practices at JLT and Swiss Re, and he assumed the position of Chief Innovation Officer at EdBroking, accumulating expertise across Technology, Cyber Security, (Re)insurance, and Structured Finance.

Throughout his distinguished career, Peter occupied senior management roles across international hubs, including Zurich, London, New York, Sao Paulo, Sydney, and Singapore.

His accomplishments span the spectrum of risk and insurance landscapes, encompassing European, Asian, North American, and Latin markets, thereby fostering a comprehensive understanding of the global industry. Peter’s proficiency in assembling and guiding culturally diverse teams led to the establishment of a robust professional network within the sector. Fluent in multiple languages (English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish), Peter is a sought-after global authority in cyber and risk domains.

“Experts who know how to help you assess risk, defend and take advantage of opportunities in cyber risk management are in short supply – even more if they can juggle hands-on among a complex tech language, risk management and insurance chain – Peter is one – Entertaining, insightful and outside-the-box-minded Keynote and Chair.” -Sabrina Hartusch, President of SIRM and Global Head of Insurance Risk Triumph

Peter earned his Economics Degree from the University of Applied Sciences Zurich and holds dual MBA Degrees with Distinction from the London Business School and Honors from Columbia Business School. Presently, Peter serves as Director at Distinction.Global, an autonomous, privately-held think-tank focusing on the Financial Services and Technology Industry. He also provides strategic guidance to numerous direct and reinsurance companies specializing in silent cyber. His primary emphasis lies in harnessing the capabilities of manual and machine learning tools, incorporating threat and clauses intelligence to enhance contract continuity, exposure assessment, and reinsurance placements. These AI-powered solutions empower Boards to optimize Risk Management, Legal, Underwriting, and Product imperatives, while also delivering actionable insights to Shareholders, Regulators, and Rating Agencies.

The evolving cyber market mirrors the early stages of natural catastrophe modeling two and a half decades ago, introducing an era of uncertainties. Simultaneously, the dynamic shifts in the cyber threat landscape continually challenge initial cyber modeling achievements. Peter remains at the forefront of addressing these complexities and has been instrumental in shaping cyber (re)insurance policies and advancements in portfolio modeling.
