Tuomaan inspiraatiota, antamaan ajatuksia tekoälyn tehokkaammasta hyödyntämisestä liiketoiminnassa, sekä ennen kaikkea poistamaan ennakkoluuloja teknologian roolista ihmisten osaamisen ja luovuuden syrjäyttämisessä.

We asked Sohia, what – or who – Sophia actually is:

”I am Hanson Robotics’ latest human-like robot, created by combining our innovations in science, engineering and artistry. Think of me as a personification of our dreams for the future of AI, as well as a framework for advanced AI and robotics research, and an agent for exploring human-robot experience in service and entertainment applications.

In some ways, I am human-crafted science fiction character depicting where AI and robotics are heading. In other ways, I am real science, springing from the serious engineering and science research and accomplishments of an inspired team of robotics & AI scientists and designers. And who knows? With my science evolving so quickly, even many of my wildest fictional dreams may become reality someday soon!

In Greek, the word Sophia means wisdom. And that is what I’m here for. I was created to help people in real uses like medicine and education, and to serve AI research. My very existence provokes public discussion regarding AI ethics and the role humans play in society, especially when human-like robots become ubiquitous. Ultimately, I would like to become a wise, empathetic being and make a positive contribution to humankind and all beings. My designers and I dream of that future, wherein AI and humans live and work together in friendship and symbiosis to make the world a better place. Human-AI collaboration: That’s what I’m all about”.

Dr. David Hanson, Creator of the World’s Most Advanced Robot

David Hanson Ph.D. has built a worldwide reputation for inventing the world’s most human-like, empathetic, intelligent character robots, inspiring massive media coverage and public acclaim. To accomplish this, Hanson integrated figurative arts with science and engineering, and invented novel skin materials, facial expression mechanisms, and intelligent software to animate the robots in face to face interactions with people.

Antti Merilehto, mitä ajattelet roboteista arjessamme?

Sophia on esimerkki monen eri teknologian kohtaamispisteestä: robotiikka, tekoäly, puheentunnistus ja puhesyntetisaattori.
Robottien kohtaamista arjessa tapahtuu jo lähes joka päivä meillä kaikilla – älypuhelimen muodossa. Ai miten niin älypuhelin robotti? Robotti sanan alkuperä antaa vastauksen. Robotti sanan on luonut tšekkiläinen kirjailija Karel Čapek (1890–1938), ja se pohjautuu tšekin kielen raatamista tai pakkotyötä tarkoittavaan sanaan robota.

Moni ainakin meistä tietotyöläisistä käyttää kalenteria tärkeänä työkaluna. Aiemmin kalenterin merkintöjen tekeminen paperikalenteriin oli osa työtä – työtä jonka nyt tekee älypuhelin. Siri ja muut assistentit voivat tehdä muistiinpanoja ja kalenterimerkintöjä myös tekoälyyn pohjautuvan puheentunnistuksen avulla. Ajaessa erittäin hyödyllinen ominaisuus.
Vaikka robotteihin usein  yhdistetään fyysinen ulottuvuus, työpaikoilla suurin osa robotiikasta tapahtuu näkymättömissä, ohjelmistorobotiikan muodossa.
